Changes at A-ND with a Heartfelt Farewell to Janet

Today, we share the news that we will bid a heartfelt farewell to Janet, our beloved Aberdeen Playscheme and Keep the Promise Team Leader on 16th May 2024. Janet's departure is a profound loss for us at A-ND, as her passion and dedication have touched us all deeply. She has been not just a colleague but a shining example of hope and a source of inspiration, embodying our mission and values in every task she undertook.

Sadly, Janet's decision to leave underscores a challenging reality in social care - rising pressures, increasing expectations, and diminishing resources are taking a toll on even the most passionate professionals. It's more often the rule than the exception that our colleagues have to go the extra mile, making personal sacrifices to keep up with the demands of the job.

As we say goodbye, let's also reflect on Janet's words and the imprints she leaves behind:

A Goodbye and Thank You from Janet

"There is never a perfect time, place or way to approach a major life change. At this time, I have made the decision to move on from my position as Playscheme and Keep the Promise Team Leader at A-ND.

In so many ways, I have loved my time with our organisation. It has been a true honour to build relationships with our exceptional children and families in Playscheme and Keep the Promise. Thank you to every one of you for welcoming me into your lives and for the many wonderful stories and memories that I will cherish for years to come.

I have greatly enjoyed working with our team and embracing exciting opportunities both internally and externally. I have learned and grown so much more than I could have known when I began as a volunteer back in October 2021. I am truly grateful for these experiences and opportunities, and I am so proud of all we have accomplished together.

Myself and the team at A-ND are driven so strongly by our collective and personal "why"s. However, it is an ongoing challenge to balance this passion and vision with the "how", which is why I have chosen to now step away from this position.

As I move on from my time at A-ND, I will take all I have learned from our team and partners, and most importantly, our children, young people, and families. They have taught me so much more than I ever could pass on to them, and their voices are the ones that I will carry forwards with me - always working "for the children".

I wish you all the very best of luck on your continued journeys of change. My last day with A-ND will be Thursday, May 16th - I hope to be able to thank many of you individually before then for all you have taught me.

Best wishes,

Janet
