On Saturday 10th August 2024, the Caledonian Golf Club, Kings Links in Aberdeen, will host a special event close to our hearts: the Bradley Allan Golf Day. This annual charity event, now in its fourth year, was lovingly established by the Allan family to raise awareness and funds for mental health charities in honour of Scott’s brother, Bradley, who tragically took his own life over 3 years ago. This year, for the first time, all proceeds will go to Autism and Neurodiversity North Scotland (A-ND), a gesture for which we are profoundly grateful.
A Day of Golf for a Worthy Cause
The Bradley Allan Golf Day brings together 164 enthusiastic players, each contributing to a significant cause. The event promises not only a competitive game of golf but also a meaningful opportunity to support neurodiverse individuals facing mental health challenges.
Neurodiversity and Mental Health: A Critical Connection
Neurodiverse conditions, including autism and ADHD, fundamentally impact mental health. Research shows that individuals with neurodiverse conditions are at a higher risk for mental health issues and suicide.
According to a study published in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, individuals with autism spectrum conditions (ASC) are up to nine times more likely to die by suicide compared to the general population. Additionally, a survey by the National Autistic Society found that 70% of autistic individuals experience mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.
This sobering data highlights the urgent need for support and resources tailored to the neurodiverse community, making the Allan familys choice of A-ND as their charity this year incredibly significant. Their support will enable us to expand our services, provide critical mental health support, and raise awareness to prevent such tragedies in the future.
Community Support: The Backbone of Our Event
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the local companies whose immense support makes this event possible. Their contributions are invaluable, and their commitment to the event and our cause is deeply appreciated.
How You Can Help?

A Heartfelt Thank You
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Allan family for their tireless efforts in organising, running, and hosting this special day in Bradley’s memory. Their dedication ensures Bradley’s legacy lives on, helping A-ND support as many individuals as possible and prevent others from facing similar struggles. Together, we can make a difference in the community and support for a cause that matters.
